【摘要】:Latexandalkydpaintsareusedascoatingsforwalls,woodentrim,andfurnishingsinoccupiedbuildings.Paintmaybeappliedtolargesurfaceareasandmaybeappliedrepeatedlyduringthelifetimeofabuilding.VOCsareemittedfrompaintafterapplicationtosurfaces.Thereisaneedfordataonemissionsfrompaint.Thedatacanbeusedtocompareemissionsfromdifferentproducts.ThedatamaybeusedtoassistmanufacturersinreducingoreliminatingVOCemissionsfromtheirproducts.ThedatamaybeusedtopredictconcentrationsofVOCsinaroomorbuildingwhenusedwithappropriateindoorairqualitymodels.Standardtestpracticesandproceduresareneededforthecomparisonofemissionsdatafromdifferentlaboratories.1.1Thispracticeprovidesproceduresforpreparingtestsamplesofalkydprimer,alkydpaint,latexprimer,orlatexpaintappliedtobuildingmaterialssuchasgypsumwallboard,wood,orengineeredwoodproductsandproceduresforsamplingvolatileorganiccompounds(VOCs)emittedfromthosetestsamples.Emissionsaresampledfromsmallenvironmentalchambersoperatedundercontrolledconditions.1.2Thispracticedescribesproceduresforpreparationoftestspecimensbyapplicationofprimerorpainttocommonbuildingmaterials.Useoftheproceduresdescribedinthispracticefortestswithotherapplicationmethodsorsubstratesmayaffecttheresultsandnotmeetthecriteriarecommendedinthepractice.1.3ThispracticedescribesproceduresforcollectionofVOCsonsorbenttubesandcarbonylcompoundsonsilicageltreatedwith2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine(DNPH)thatrequireanalyticalmethodsformeasurementofindividualorganiccompoundconcentrations.Thispracticedoesnotdescribethedetailedproceduresofanalyticalmethods,butreferstopublishedmethodsfortheseanalyses.1.4ThispracticedescribesproceduresfortestingandsamplingVOCsemittedfrompaintundercontrolledconditions.Thetestconditions,whencombinedwithanalyticaldata,canbeusedtocalculateemissionrates.Thispracticedoesnotrecommendamethodforthecalculations.1.5ValuesstatedintheInternationalSystemofUnits(SI)aretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
